RAKU - TRADITIONAL JAPANESE FIRING PROCESS

This centuries old firing process uses clay formulated to withstand extreme temperature changes. The pieces are fired to 1800 F at which time they are  pulled out of the kiln and placed in air tight containers with combustible materials to create a
reduction (oxygen starved) atmosphere.
This is a fast firing process that gives amazing, unique results.
The pieces fired Raku are colourful, gorgeous, decoration only pieces.
They will not hold water.
